Logo Concept

The concept of the Spectrum logo by Renata Colmenero in collaboration with Gabriel Gargari For the design process two concepts were chosen as a starting point; Frequency and the letter S. The concept of FREQUENCY symbolizes life’s energy flow with multiple paths represented by each wavelength that fades into “nothingness”. The letter S from SPECTRUM represents movement, 1/2 of the infinity symbol, and the constant “waves” or flow of life.  The open space in between represents boundaries and the unknown.  The final logo represents balance, no yin without yang, the unknown, and the flow of energy that moves within us all and our surroundings.

5 Essential Human (Emotional) Needs

I have been traveling the world since I was 6 years old off and on. In October 2016 I decided to sell and get rid of practically everything that I owned so that I could travel the world and share my Ancient Lomi Lomi / Ke Ala Hōkū practice with those that resonated with it. In May 2017 that journey began. I have been traveling non-stop ever since. I have had the chance to meet people from different socio-economic & education levels, religions, sexual orientations and (non) gender expressions, upbringings, and shades of humanity. I don’t care what part of the world one was born in, how one was raised, what one had or didn’t have, or what one was (not) given, in general…human beings want 5 things in this life… to be LOVED to be ACCEPTED to be VALIDATED to be SEEN to be HEARD All of this is encapsulated within the space of SAFETY/TRUST! So, maybe there’s 6 Essential Human (Emotional) Needs! The main problem in our western society is that we have to been taught to get those things EXTERNALLY. “If you have this kind of relationship, then you’ll be loved. If you follow our rules, then you’ll be accepted.” This goes on and on and continues to change within every relationship (platonic, work-related, intimate, stranger), family, community, society, generation, socio-economic status, religion, country, and so on. It’s a form of manipulation and control. In general,

Positive vs. Negative

In a country and culture where these two words have so much power and influence, it’s important to be conscious of the context, perspective, and filter through which you are receiving, inhabiting, and expressing those words. This has a major influence on your perception, your reality. I am the one who gives Life meaning. You are the one who gives Life meaning. Everything I can see, taste, touch, smell, or hear, every thought, emotion, sensation, breath, feeling, intention, action, word, and anything else that I can imagine, conjure, comprehend, manifest, and that has ever existed, exists, and will ever exist is LIFE. Life IS. Therefore, there are billions, Infinite different kinds of meanings of Life. This is also influenced by your/my upbringing, socio-economic status, religion, traumas, culture, language, and many other influences. This can be very unnerving and unhinging especially to those that don’t like to take responsibility for their thoughts, feelings, beliefs, actions, or words. This is one of the things that I have learned through my Ancient lomi lomi practice, and I now see in other indigenous and Eastern perspectives.  Generally speaking, US culture and most religions teach us to push away the negative, get rid of the darkness, only have positivity, bring in only the good/light, etc. This happens in the Wellness, Holistic, and Healing Arts community as well. What may be negative in one situation or moment may not be so in another. This can depend on the root or origin point you are coming from
